Exciting News: Two New Schools Join the Canonium Learning Trust Family

We are delighted to announce the opening of two brand-new schools under the Canonium Learning Trust: Stourview Church of England Primary Academy and St Michael’s Church of England Primary Academy. 

Stourview Church of England Primary Academy

Stourview Church of England Primary Academy is currently housed in modern modular classrooms, offering an inviting environment for learning as we embark on an exciting journey of building a permanent new facility. This new state-of-the-art building is planned to be ready within the next three years and will be based on the former site of Mistley Norman Primary School.

The creation of Stourview Primary Academy is a unique opportunity for the community to help shape the future of education in the area. Together, we aim to build a school that reflects the needs and aspirations of local families, creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

The school is committed to delivering a rich and exciting curriculum tailored to support children’s academic growth, creativity and wellbeing. With new housing developments nearby, Stourview promises to be the school of choice for families seeking a close-knit, community-focused educational experience.

Stourview is also exploring funding options for an on-site nursery, which would provide high-quality early years education for children as young as two, offering a seamless educational journey from nursery through to the end of the primary phase. 

St Michael’s Church of England Primary Academy

Opening on the site formerly occupied by Two Village Primary School, St Michael’s Church of England Primary Academy backed by significant funding to provide an exceptional quality of education from the outset.

Under new leadership, St Michael’s has begun implementing an engaging curriculum that prioritises both high academic standards and personal development. Highlights include a strong focus on outdoor learning through access to Forest Schools, ensuring that children grow not only academically but also in their confidence, resilience and love for the natural world.

With its nurturing ethos, St Michael’s aims to offer the local families a vibrant and enriching environment for their children.

As part of the Canonium Learning Trust, both schools benefit from the Trust’s proven track record of delivering high expectations and enabling both children and staff to flourish. Recognised for its commitment to excellence, Canonium has been selected by the Department for Education and the Diocese of Chelmsford to nurture these new schools and ensure they meet their full potential.

Joining the Canonium family means Stourview and St Michael’s will be supported by a network of expertise and resources dedicated to providing every child with the very best education.
